The high-quality carbon steel blade has a PTFE coating, which reduces friction and helps facilitate the removal of the blade from wood. The 4-1/2-pound axe is smartly designed and easy to use. The 28-inch handle consists of a sturdy glass fiber-reinforced polyamide and is molded around the head to prevent loosening and separation. This ax is much lighter than ones with wooden handles and less likely to break at the neck. You can use the face of the ax as a sledge with Fiskars's splitting wedge for large blocks of wood.
