The Original Pawley Island Rope Hammocks feature custom designed strecher bars cut from seasoned hardwood, then steamed, bent, drilled, sanded, and varnished, all to impart a comfortable sway to the hammock and to spread the rope evenly for optimum stability. Each Original starts with a rhythmic motion of a needle of rope knitting in and out of the hammock body. Once the body is woen, the hammock is completed by connecting it to strong, plaited ends stung through the oak stretcher bars and tied with nautical bowline knots to the body strands. Upon final inspection, each hammock is marked with the traditional metal tag to ensure it's authenticity as an Original Pawley's Island Rope Hammock.
